Notes: An edition of Lewis' classic novel of small-town life illustrated by Grant Wood, the artist best-known for his painting American Gothic, depicting a farming couple and a pitchfork. For this edition of 1500 signed copies, Wood supplied nine-full page tinted drawings which were faithfully reproduced by the Lakeside Press.
Lewis added a new introduction for this edition. xvii, 367 pages. 7-3/4 by 10 inches.
Edition + Condition: Spine slightly darkened, but less than usual, else near fine in thin gray cloth-covered boards. This is copy 860 of 1500, signed by Grant Wood on the colophon page. The original slipcase is split at the top and is starting at the bottom and the spine label is fading and hard to read (the slipcase is fragile and is often missing entirely).
