The story follows a Mr. Sweet, who always is always on the verge of dying, only to be revived by a little girl. At the end of the story, the girl is receiving her doctorate and must hurry home to see Mr. Sweet one last time.
Edition + Condition: First edition (first printing). A near fine copy in a near fine dust jacket. This copy is inscribed to the book's designer, who is credited on the copyright page: "To Vaughn Andrews: Thanks for being so easy to work with, and for always hearing. This book is lovely because it was created by all of us. It is gorgeous because you're such an awesome designer. Peace & love... Alice Walker 7-14-88." A nice inscription.
