Blanco was born in Madrid to Cuban parents who were passing through Spain on their way to the US. He grew up in Miami and became a poet. He read the poem "One Today" at Barack Obama's second inauguration. This book reprints three of his poems, including the inaugural poem, interspersed with excerpts from his memoir All of Us, One Today: An Inaugural Poet's Journey.

The text is digitally printed on white paper, with two fold-out, handcolored illustrations. The title page and other preliminaries are also handcolored. The covers and one interior page are decorated with paper collages. Designed and illustrated by Rolando Estévez. The colophon is signed by Estévez.
