Dos poemas [Two Poems]

Notes: Two leaves. 4-1/2 by 10-1/4 inches. One of 50 copies. Colección Río Mar.

Two poems by the Jewish American poet (born in the Warsaw Ghetto in 1941) printed on a single sheet in English and a Spanish translation by Ruth Behar. Behar, a Jewish Cuban American scholar and writer, has collaborated with Rolando Estévez on many book projects, often with Jewish themes.

This is one of the earliest books, completed in November 2014, from Ediciones El Fortín after Estévez left Ediciones Vigía. Like many of the early books, it is mostly handmade, except for the poems themselves, which are printed on a single sheet that has been folded and inserted into a pocket mounted to one of the pages. The covers and illustrations of this book are entirely handpainted and handlettered.

A lovely handmade book.

OCLC: EYM

Edition + Condition: Near fine. With the belly band, as issued. This copy has the author's name misspelled on the covers and the colophon, using a Spanish phonetic spelling of the poet's name—Klepfist. This is the only copy your cataloguer has seen so it is not known if all copies reproduce this error or just some.

Publication: Bellamar, Matanzas, Cuba: Ediciones El Fortín, 2014.
