PC copy, with an Original Drawing

Something Lumber This Way Comes; or, The House From Space [Signed, Lettered]

Notes: 80 pages. Illustrated by Doug Potter, a comic book artist and editorial cartoonist for the Austin Chronicle weekly newspaper.

A children's chapter book, adapted from the story "The Shaggy House." It was never accepted for publication until this installment in the Lost Lansdale series, as volume two. The edition 500 signed and numbered copies plus 13 lettered copies.

This is one of the lettered copies, in a russet cloth binding (not issued in a dust jacket), signed and lettered on the limitation page. In addition, the lettered copies included one of the original illustrations laid into the inside of the folding clamshell box (traycase).

Edition + Condition: First edition (first printing). A fine copy in a fine traycase. This copy is marked PC and signed by Lansdale. Often, PC copies are press overruns; however, since this copy includes an original illustration, it is probably an actual Presentation Copy that originally belonged to Lansdale or the publisher. The illustration depicts two boys, a dog, and a flying house. The artist used white tape, now partially detached, to remove the boys from the picture. In the end, this illustration was not used in the book, but the dog was repurposed as a spot drawing at the beginning of part 1 and the flying house is a vignette on the first page of part 2.
