Custom-made for Ray Bradbury
Adirondack 302 Bradbury Personal Model 1950s (autographed baseball bat)
Notes: 34 inches; Northern white ash; bottom 12 inches of the handle not varnished. Based on the logo style and firm name, this bat dates from 1951 to 1957.
This is a custom Ray Bradbury baseball bat with his name incised in the wood, with the legend "personal model" below. I have not been able to determine the origins of this bat, but one supposes that it was presented as a gift by the manufacturer or by someone in baseball.
Bradbury gave it to the former owner in 1996, inscribing the bat above his printed name, "Good wishes from Ray Bradbury. 6/6/96."
Even Bradbury collectors who have everything probably don't have this. I give it a 9 out of 10 on the cool scale.
Edition + Condition: With a few minor dents, else a fine example. No evidence of game use.
Publication: Dolgeville, NY: McLaughlin-Millard, Inc., [1950s].
