Notes: Pergamino (folded broadside). 7-1/2 inches by 45 inches. One of 200 copies. Colección del San Juan.
A horizontal pergamino, sometimes referred to as a "plegable", which translates as "folding" but used as a noun. This pergamino variant is much less common than the vertical, hanging structures favored by the press. The text is nine poems, mimeographed from typescript, with drawings by Rolando Estévez. The central design is a human figure that stretches the length of the piece.
Alonso (1921–2007) was a Matanzas writer who became almost the house poet of Ediciones Vigía. Estévez has frequently drawn inspiration from her work and some of their collaborations resulted in his best work. This collection of poems opens with an introduction in the form of a letter to Alonso by Dulce María Loynaz.
Edition + Condition: Generally very good, constructed from many types and sizes of paper stock.
Publication: Matanzas, Cuba: Ediciones Vigía, 1987.
