Literature and Artifacts that Will Forever Remain Among the Undead: The Book Sail 16th Anniversary Catalogue [Set]

Notes: 639 items, about 200 pages.

A major catalog of science fiction and fantasy by John McLaughlin, one of the field's leading dealers in the 1970s and 1980s. Among the offerings were the original typescript for Dracula (price on request), a full run of Weird Tales ($22,500); and a pile of H. P. Lovecraft manuscripts.

For this catalog, McLaughlin commissioned an introduction by Ray Bradbury, a short story by Robert Bloch, and an illustration from the fantasy artist Rowena. He also printed a short, never-before published scene cut from Bram Stoker's Dracula.

This set, assembled by a collector, includes one of the 1000 paperback issues of the catalog and one of the 400 hardcover deluxe issues, which included a lenticular portrait of Elvira, Mistress of the Dark on the front cover and a William F. Nolan story in pamphlet form in a pocket at the back. This limited edition is signed by Bradbury, Elvira, Rowena, Bloch, and Nolan. It is numbered at the back in ink mixed with human blood.

Edition + Condition: First edition (first printing). The deluxe hardcover is fine and included the errata slip and the silver bellyband. The paperback copy includes the errata slip and has a crease at the spine and is thus very good. The group is housed in a custom black cloth clamshell box.

Publication: Orange, CA: McLaughlin Press, 1984.
