This is the first edition from this publisher, which took over publishing Welty after her first book. According to a newspaper article, "Harcourt, Brace and Co. have announced they will print new editions of Eudora Welty's A Curtain of Green and The Wide Net... They have been out of print for some time and the admirers of Welty's work, who grow in number with every good she publishes, will be glad to hear" it (Jan. 5, 1947, Chattanooga Daily Times).
Edition + Condition: First printing of the second edition. A near fine copy in a jacket with minor wear to the corners. This copy is inscribed by the author, "To Mrs. Louise Marks, with good wishes, Eudora Welty."
