The King and FDR's Yacht
Six Candid Photographs of Elvis Presley and Danny Thomas
Notes: In 1964, Elvis Presley bought the USS Potomac, which was Franklin Delano Roosevelt's "floating White House" from 1936 to 1945. The yacht fell into disrepair after FDR's death; Elvis bought it in 1964 and donated it to Danny Thomas's cancer charity. These black-and-white photographs were taken during the press conference about the donation, with the yacht mostly obscured by the crowd in the background.
Six of the photos show Elvis and Thomas on the docks and three are just of Thomas.
The photos measure 5 by 7 inches.
Edition + Condition: The photographs are fine except for one of Kaye and a police officer (Elvis is not in the frame), which has a stain on the back (verso), not affecting the image.
Publication: [1964].
