The Brass Cupcake
Notes: The first book by the author of the Travis McGee novels, one of the most popular mystery series of the second half of the 20th century.
The Brass Cupcake is a hardboiled novel published in 1950 about a disillusioned ex-cop who works for an insurance company buying back stolen jewelry. He gets mixed up in a murder case and involved with the victim's beautiful niece. The US edition was a paperback original; this is the first hardcover, published in the UK in the 1970s.
The book is particularly provocative for its sexual dust jacket art.
