Fire in the Nuts [Signed and Numbered]

Notes: A limited edition of an early and previously unpublished semi-autobiographical short story about a struggling writer living in Greenwich Village, which Thompson wrote when he was a struggling writer living in New York City. Illustrated in typically exuberant style by Steadman. The final pages of the book are a sexually explicit suite of images by Steadman titled Reeperbahn: Sex Red Light District, Hamburg."

This is one of 150 numbered copies (of an edition of 176) signed by Thompson and Steadman

The book is bound in black cloth and paper-covered boards illustrated by Steadman. Leather spine label stamped in gilt.

51 pages.

Edition + Condition: First edition (first printing). A fine hardcover copy; with a fine copy of the publisher's clear acetate dust jacket, as issued. This is copy no. 2. Signed by Thompson on the limitation page and inscribed Steadman with an original drawing and three pages of his trademark ink splatter. The drawing is an abstract caricature, perhaps of Dr. Gonzo, in red and black ink incorporating the T of the recipient's name. "For Tom Garner, Ralph Steadman, Woody Creek, 7 Oct 2004."

Garner was a big supporter of Joe Petro, the printer, and that is likely why he received a special numbered copy with an original Steadman drawing.

Publication: Woody Creek; Loose Valley; BlueGrass; and High Desert: Gonzo International; Steam Press; Petro III Graphics; and Sylph Publications, 2004.
