Chinese Butcher Shop, Sacramento St., S. F., Cal.
Notes: The Scottish immigrant John James Reilly made hundreds of stereoview images and marketed them as Views of American Scenery. This is his view of the Tung Foo Co., a Chinese butcher shop, in San Francisco.
This stereoview however is a piracy by E. P. Best or Miller & Best, who reproduced stereoviews and sold them at cut-rate prices around the US. As a result of the copying, this image lacks definition, particularly in the faces of the people standing in front of the business.
A single albumen silver prints on thin photographic paper, roughly 5-7/16 by 2-15/16 inches, on a slightly larger yellow cardstock mount. Blank on the back (verso).
