Edition + Condition: First edition (first printing). Spine worn and a bit faded, else very good in the publisher's blue cloth. This copy is inscribed by Broom, "With best wishes to W. A. Stamelman, R. Broom Sept 1949." Uncommon signed.

This copy was subsequently in the library of the paleontologist and evolutionary theorist Stephen Jay Gould, with a posthumous bookplate denoting the provenance on the front pastedown.
