Item No: #308017 A Medicine for Melancholy [Playscript]. Ray Bradbury.

Unproduced Ray Bradbury Play

A Medicine for Melancholy [Playscript]

Notes: An unproduced one-act play adapted by Bradbury from his story of the same name. It is set in London "when Boswell's Johnson was alive." To date, this play has not been published in any of the printed collections of Bradbury's plays.

Bradbury loved writing for the stage and put on plays regularly in Los Angeles beginning in 1964. He refurbished the Coronet theater and renamed it the Pandemonium Theater, installing sound and visual equipment for special effects. This playscript seems to date from the 1960s based on the printing and binding, which are similar to other 1960s productions.

[1], 26 leaves printed on green paper and bound in blue brad-bound cardstock covers.

Edition + Condition: First edition. A near fine copy, signed by Bradbury on the front cover. Scarce.

Publication: [Los Angeles]: [the author], [n.d. but ca. 1965].
