Uncollected Ray Bradbury Play

Any Friend of Nicholas Nickleby's Is a Friend of Mine [Playscript]

Notes: A one-act play adapted by Bradbury from his short story of the same name.

While this story, about a writer who calls himself Charles Dickens, was adapted successfully for television in 1981, the play seems to have been produced only twice. According to the Bradbury Companion, it was performed at the Actors Studio West (perhaps only as a staged reading) and then again at Rio Hondo Junior College in 1969. Your cataloguer found contemporary press accounts of the Rio Hondo staging, which ran for three nights as a student production along with two other Bradbury plays.

It does not appear to have been published in any of Bradbury's play collections and he did not do the TV adaptation. This play is not mentioned in Ben Indick's Ray Bradbury: Dramatist.
