Item No: #308178 Behind the Eagle Stand the Forests

Forest Industry Promotional Poster

Behind the Eagle Stand the Forests

Notes: An uncommon and attractive Second World War poster promoting the timber industry which, for patriotic and economic reasons, promoted the use of wood for both defense and war matériel purposes.

The attribution for this poster, which does not have an imprint, is based on a pamphlet of the same title with a similar cover design issued by TECO, the Timber Engineering Company, the promotion and research arm of the National Lumber Manufacturing Association. The Eugene, Oregon, Guard newspaper ran a short article about the Behind the Eagle campaign in its Dec. 21, 1941 issue, just two weeks after the attack on Pearl Harbor and the US entry into the war.

Homefront posters from industry groups are much scarcer than their government-issued counterparts.

16 by 20 inches.

Edition + Condition: Folded as issued. A near fine example. This is an original WWII poster; not a reproduction. Ships flat.

Publication: [Washington, DC?]: [Timber Engineering Co.?], [1942].
