Notes: The Walking Dead, running to 194 comic books collected into 32 trade paperback graphic novels, 16 hardcover volumes, and then 8 "omnibus" editions (color versions are also planned), and adapted into two TV series, several novels, and a video game sequence, has taken over popular culture much like the series' zombies have taken over the world.
Early on, the publisher offered a small edition of just 300 signed and numbered copies of the hardcover graphic novels, and then stopped offering them after volume 4. These are undoubtedly the scarcest of the Walking Dead graphic novels, which have now been printed in millions of copies.
Each volume collects twelve issues of the monthly comic book. At the back of each of the hardcover graphic novels is a short sketchbook section showing preliminary drawings with Kirkman's introductory text followed by several pages of color illustrations. These "extras" were not included in the comic books or the paperback graphic novels.
288 pages (vols. 1–3) and 304 pages (vol. 4). Black and white, with a few color pages at the end of each volume. 7-1/2 by 11-1/4 inches.
Edition + Condition: First hardcover printings (stated). The corners are a bit bumped, particularly the upper corners of volumes 3 and 4, but each volume is near fine or better. All four are numbered and signed by Kirkman and Adlard on a tipped in illustration page.
