Notes: A facsimile of the first draft of this classic memoir of Abbey's time as a ranger in Arches National Park in the 1950s, now considered a key example of nature and environmental writing.

The facsimile reproduces each typed page of the original draft, reproducing typed and handwritten changes throughout. The edition was 60 copies, each made of loose sheets of paper laid into a handmade clamshell box. An introduction by Doug Peacock was printed as a chapbook and serves as the introduction.

About 260 leaves, 8-3/4 by 11-1/4 inches; printed on the front side only.

Edition + Condition: A fine copy in a near fine slipcase with minor bumps.
