Notes: A pictorial history of the county sheriffs in Oregon, prepared for the sesquicentennial anniversary of the first sheriff office in the state. The book is organized county by county, with anecdotes from that sheriff's office, a map showing the county location within Oregon, a list of sheriffs for the county, and portraits of most of each county's sheriffs.
205 pages, including an index. Extensively illustrated.
Edition + Condition: First edition (first printing). A fine copy in gilt and embossed leatherette boards (no jacket, as issued). Near fine slipcase. This copy was one of forty or so presented to the then-current Oregon sheriffs, with his name embossed on the front cover.
This copy is signed by the author; Bill Hawley, a retired OSSA historian; Judith Gage, the then-current historian; and all but one of the then-current sheriffs (Terry Speelman of Baker Co. did not sign). Very uncommon signed by so many contributors.
Publication: [Salem, OR]: Oregon State Sheriffs Association (OSSA), 1992.
