Rolling Stone: Issue Numbers One through Fifteen, November 9, 1967 through August 10, 1968
Notes: The first fifteen issues of the greatest Rock 'n' Roll magazine, bound in 1968 as hardcovers and sold as a set by the magazine. These issues have never been folded and they represent a cornerstone of music and counterculture history. These issues have stories on John Lennon, the Beatles, the Rolling Stones, Tina Turner, Jimi Hendrix, Janis Joplin, Jefferson Airplane, Bob Dylan and most every other musical act of consequence of the era.
These issues introduced Ben Fong Torres as one of the keenest music reporters, and they document the newspaper-magazine's rapid ascension from San Francisco music scene publication to the paper of record for the rock music business.
360 pages. Issues 1 to 15, also numbered volume I, no. 1 to 10, and vol. II, no. 1 to 4 (sic). In volume two, issues 13 and 14 are both numbered vol. II, no. 3, and number 15 is incorrectly labeled vol. II, no. 4 (instead of no. 5). 11-14 by 16-3/4 inches.
Edition + Condition: First edition, bound. The issues themselves are a bit tanned, as usual, but they are otherwise fine (many sets show signs of reading; this one does not). The binding is fine but for some denting to the edges. A very nice example of this scarce original bound volume of early issues.
