A Classic Suite of Moebius Images
City of Fire Portfolio
Notes: A densely illustrated and inventively imagined suite of ten (10) images made by Moebius (pseudonym of Jean Gerard) in collaboration with Geof Darrow, a Moebius fan and comic illustrator. Darrow met Moebius in Los Angeles when Moebius was working on Walt Disney's Tron movie. He later went to Paris where he and Moebius collaborated on this series of images. Darrow made the initial pencil drawings, and Moebius traced them in ink, reworking the scenes as he went and adding color.
These images are like concept paintings for a science fiction film set in a densely populated city of humans, humanoids, and fanciful animals. All one needs is a plot.
This is the second American edition (following one issued simultaneously with the French original in 1985), with two added images not included in the first edition of eight (8) color plates.
Housed in a 19-1/2 by 14-7/8 inch printed envelope (prints slightly smaller). Plates printed with offset lithography.
Edition + Condition: First edition. The plates are fine or nearly so, with a bit of handling signs at the corners. The enclosing envelope is fine or nearly so. A nice set, seldom seen these days.
