Signed, from Ben Fong-Torres' Collection
The Doors
Notes: A photo illustrated story of the Doors signed by the three surviving band members and Ben Fong-Torres. The book collects interviews with all four of the band members from back in the day, plus reminiscences from the three then-living band members, keyboardist Ray Manzarek, guitarist Robby Krieger, and drummer John Densmore. It also includes the last interview that the singer Jim Morrison did, with Ben Fong-Torres, before he went to France near the end of his life.
286 pages. 12 by 11 inches.
Edition + Condition: First edition (first printing, with a numberline ending in 1). A near fine copy (corner bumped) in a fine, thin plastic dust jacket with transparent areas. This copy came from Ben Fong-Torres, who was the music editor of Rolling Stone magazine during its peak years, and who helped put this book together. The book is signed by Ray Manzarek, Robby Krieger, and John Densmore, and then it is inscribed, "After a big bash along the Sunset Strip one night in 2007 to promote this book, the Doors signed this copy for me. Now, I add my own signature. Ben Fong-Torres 2023."
Fong-Torres, despite being one of the key figures in the history of Rolling Stone magazine, a real innovator in music journalism, and the author of a number of books, books signed by him are uncommon. The time to hesitate is through, you won't find a better copy or a better authentication of the Doors' signatures.
