Under A Glass Bell and Other Stories

Notes: This is the third book Nin published under this title, each of which included the title story but had somewhat different content otherwise. This is the longest of the three, with fourteen stories (counting the two-part Winter of Artifice as one). This edition is described on the front of the dust jacket as "all the short stories Anais Nin has written."

Unlike the 1944 self-published Gemor Press edition and the 1947 Editions Poetry London version, this edition does not have illustrations by Nin's husband, Ian Hugo.

221 pages.

Edition + Condition: First printing of this edition. A very good or better copy in blue cloth and a very good, lightly spine-faded dust jacket with creasing to one corner and a bit of surface scuffing on the spine. This copy is inscribed by Nin to Sascha Laurance (Winifred Leah Laurance), a Hollywood script supervisor. This copy later belonged to Elton John's lyricist Bernie Taupin, with his BJT ownership blindstamp on the front free endpaper.

Publication: New York: E. P. Dutton & Company, 1948.
