Eureka Success School

Notes: 5 by 6-1/2 inch ink drawing on 6-by-8-inch paper. The drawing, probably intended as part of a series (as this is numbered 3 in the lower left corner), depicts a woman in a elaborate hat approching a door labeled Eureka Success School.

Williams drew cartoons for The New Yorker magazine in the mid-1940s, but had hardly any work published. During this time he met the New Yorker writer E. B. White and Williams' career was made when he illustrated White's first book for children, Stuart Little, in 1945.

Edition + Condition: Fine. Signed Garth in the lower left of the drawing.
