Eleanor, a teacher, writes to Harry, a friend or possibly a relative. She writes about planned trips to San Francisco for shopping and about her parents. Then she starts complaining about Eureka: "Eureka is on the fritz. The lumber industry is nil & Humboldt is dead—Eureka looks deserted & forlorn.....
