Edition + Condition: First edition (stated). A fine copy in a near fine, double-price-clipped dust jacket, with the HarperCrest sticker on the front panel, as issued. The jacket has a couple of very short tears. Signed by Hillerman on the half-title page. This copy comes with a handsome custom black cloth clamshell box.
There were two issues of this book, a regular trade edition and this reinforced version intended for classrooms and libraries. Usually, these "library" issues are quite scarce on the market because they mostly go to libraries. However, this book was actually cheaper as a library edition ($4.11 versus $4.50) and it seems a lot of bookstores ordered the less-expensive version so there are more of these Harpercrest copies than you'd expect.
