Signed by Jeffers in a Custom Slipcase
The Double Axe and Other Poems [Signed]
Publication: New York: Random House, 1948. First Edition.
Notes: A collection of long, political, narrative poems that argue that the US should not have gotten involved in World War Two. Jeffers' position was so unpopular that the publisher put a disclaimer in the book and on the jacket stating they disagreed with their author.
This is one of an unspecified number of copies issued with a tipped in sheet signed by Jeffers.
149 pages.
Edition + Condition: First edition (stated first printing). A near fine copy in a very good dust jacket that is price-clipped and chipped along to the top edge. A previous bookseller notes on the front pastedown that this is a "large paper" copy, perhaps indicating that the signed issue is taller than the regular trade issue. This copy comes with a custom decorative slipcase.
