Evolution as a Process
Notes: A collection of essays, with contributions by Huxley, Ernst Mayr, J. B. S. Haldane, G. D. de Beer, and many others.
Edition + Condition: First edition (first printing). A good to very good copy, with significant spine fading and no dust jacket. This however was Huxley's own copy, with his ownership signature in pencil on the front free endpaper, penciled notes on several essays, particularly Mayr's, "Change of Genetic Environment and Evolution." With a page of notes, typically cryptic, as are many of Huxley's notes.
This book came from evolutionary theorist Stephen Jay Gould's personal collection (he acquired a number of books from Huxley's library), with a posthumous bookplate denoting the provenance.
Publication: London: George Allen & Unwin, 1954.
