Notes: A fantasy-fable for children, illustrated by Chris Lane.

Included here are: 1) the proof in wrappers in a trial dust jacket that has a different spine design than the finished book; and 2) the first edition. Other than some formatting changes, the proof and the finished book appear to be the same. The proof jacket is printed on whiter paper than the trade jacket. The Ahearns, in their Author Price Guide for Ray Bradbury, record an example of the proof with a dust jacket but they do not note this trial jacket.

Edition + Condition: First edition (first printing). Proof: Fine in a near fine dust jacket, inscribed, "Thomas! Ray Bradbury. 4/1/99." Publisher's letter to reviewers laid in. Trade: A fine copy in a fine dust jacket, inscribed by Bradbury on the front free endpaper, "Tom! Ray Bradbury. Dec. 7, '98."
