Cuerda del aire
Notes: 33 pages. 7-1/4 by 10 inches plus outcrops. One of 200 copies. Colección Barquitos.
A collection of poems photocopied onto white paper. The poems are alternately by mother (Bárbara) and daughter (Patricia). Designed and illustrated by Marialva Ríos.
For the covers, Ríos employs collage elements, handcoloring, various types of paper, yarn, and coarse fibers to build on the metaphor of a caterpillar becoming a butterfly. In a pocket on the back cover is a small chapbook by Bárbara titled "Secretos de jardín." This is bound in handcolored handmade paper and it is enclosed in a band decorated with handcolored flower illustrations, neatly cut out along the edges. In all, a very charming book designed by Ríos, who seems to be assuming an ever-more important role at Ediciones Vigía following the departure of Rolando Estévez.
