An Early Draft on Pink Paper
Ray Bradbury's The Martian Chronicles: July 10, 1978 Shooting Script #1, #2 and #3 (complete)
Notes: Three early draft scripts dated July 10, 1978, for the NBC mini-series starring Rock Hudson, with Roddy McDowall and Bernedette Peters. The SF series, based on Ray Bradbury's book and adapted for the screen by the SF/Horror novelist Richard Matheson, imagined the Earth's attempt to colonize Mars.
This is an early draft of the mini-series script; the final shooting scripts were several pages shorter. These scripts are printed on pink paper; the shooting scripts are printed on white.
Script #1: [2], 92 leaves; in decorative red covers, three-hole-punched and bound with two brass brads (as issued). In addition to the numbered script pages, there is a title page dated July 10, 1978 and a production note about special effects and the Martian scenery, which had not yet been developed.
Script #2: [1, title page],103, [1, Barbara's Place script printing ad] leaves. In blue wrappers with the same design as #1.
Script #3: [1, title page], 88 leaves. In matching lime-green wrappers.
An uncommon early state of these scripts.
