Stapled pages glued into stiff wrappers that fold around the spine and fore-edge to meet in the middle of the front cover. The cover includes a collaged heart design that crosses the two flaps and is tied shut using mult-colored yarn. The illustration on the title page has a border sewn in yarn. The text, a collection of poems, is typeset on a computer and printed on brown recycled paper based on a design by Ivet Báez, a graduate of the art school in Matanzas.
Fernández, a winner of both the Casa de las Américas prize and the Premio Nacional de Literatura, contributes revised versions of previously published poems to this book.
