Undoubtedly, this is one of the masterpieces of the Ediciones Vigía and a fully-realized example of Rolando Estévez's distinctive pergamino (folded broadside) structures. This is one of the earliest examples of his current style and it is stylistically more closely connected to Estévez's El Fortín work than the typical Ediciones Vigía publication from early in the twenty-first century. This is the only Vigía book given its own chapter in Handmade in Cuba: Rolando Estévez and the beautiful books of Ediciones Vigía (University of Florida Press, 2020).
Morejón read this poem at an event in Havana in 1964, but it had remained unpublished until she gave it to Ediciones Vigía for this publication. Morejón's poem is reproduced from Estévez's handwritten manuscript; the text is overlaid with a handcolored paper tree with the title made from cut-out letters mounted on top. The piece hangs from a piece of twine at the top. The colophon information is on the back of the tree trunk.
The book is laid into a white paper envelope decorated with paper cutouts of trees and the title.
