The advance uncorrected proofs of a book that was never published. In the early 1960s Gardner edited the journal MSS, and he revived it briefly two decades later, but the project floundered after a few issues.

This anthology, intended to kick-off the new MSS, includes a six-page introduction by Gardner about the original journal, and it reprints from the original ten short stories by Joyce Carol Oates, William Gass, John Hawkes, and others. This anthology project was never officially published, leaving this proof as evidence of the effort.

Uncommon.

Edition + Condition: Covers a bit tanned; original publication date crossed out and replaced with May 15 1980 stamped in red ink.
