Colotypes, Linotypes, and a Pressed-Paper Relief

Holguín, ínsula embrujada

Notes: 10 leaves. 10-1/2 by 16-3/4 inches. One of 50 copies.

The third (?) edition of this anthology of poems about Holguín, each with a distinct design. The poems included are "De mi ciudad" by Lalita Curbelo Barberán; "La ciudad" by Gilberto González Seik; "Calles de la infancia" by Mayda Pérez Gallego; "Contornos" by Lourdes María González Herrero; "De los parques, del viento" by Quintín Ochoa Romero; "Entre el sol y las piedras de la mañana" by Alejandro Fonseca Carralero; and the title poem, by Ronel González Sánchez.

The book is shaped like a door, with a curved top and paper hinges. The text is printed letterpress on handmade paper. The cover is a collagraph and there are three full-page prints (linocuts?) by José Emilio Leyva Azze inside. The cover is printed in blue ink made from minerals collected in Moa, outside Holguín. The book is wrapped in a handmade paper mesh with a three-dimensional pressed paper reproduction of an elaborate door knocker. The whole production goes in a handmade paper bag with jute rope handles.

This is one of the most elaborate productions of Cuadernos Papiro.
