Notes: A survey of the history and influences of theosophy by one of the movement's early American supporters. The Cincinnati Theosophical Society, one of the first American branches of the Theosophical Society, started at Buck's house just a few months after he gave this speech. Buck was a homeopath and an active theosophist.
Theosophy was started in New York in 1875, making it one of the most important religious and spiritual traditions to be founded in the United States. While sources differ, the Cincinnati Branch was in the first eight or first fourteen branches of the Theosophical Society in the US making this an artifact from the very beginning of theosophy in the US.
