Notes: A studio portrait of a seated Chinese man holding a fan. The photograph is captioned (rather than signed) in ink in Chinese characters with the name Ma Hanchen. While this is an unusual name, I have not been able to trace him. The photographer died in 1893, putting an upper limit on the date of this image.

Albumen silver print; 4 by 5-3/4 inches on a slightly larger mount with the photographer's name and address.

Edition + Condition: The image is well focused and has nice contrast.
