Notes: An early edition of one of the most popular books on microscopes in the 19th century. Illustrated with in-text engravings.
xii, 506 pages. I have not located a copy with a date; the dating is based on the date in the preface. There is another, similar 1859 edition, also not dated except in the preface, with 510 pages and "R. Clay" noted as the printer on the back (verso) of the title page and also opposite the last page of the index. This slightly shorter edition does not have a printer's imprint.
Edition + Condition: Nicely bound in 20th century green morocco, slightly faded at the spine and scuffed at the edges.
