New Japanese-American Address Book / Saishin hokubei nikkeijin jushoroku: 1950

Notes: A one-off Japanese American directory published five years after the end of the Second World War. No other directories were issued by the Japanese-American Book Company.

This directory covers California, Oregon, Washington, and fifteen other states, plus Canada and the Kibei (Japanese Americans who returned to Japan). Each state is organized by city, with a listing of businesses by type followed by residents. Entries are in English, with the name repeated in Japanese characters. With about 40 pages of advertising, mostly for Japanese American businesses and a few Chinese American establishments. The lack of advertising suggests an explanation for why the project was not repeated.
