A Journal of the Proceedings of the House of Representatives of the General Assembly of the State of Florida at Its Eleventh Session

Notes: A nicely-bound volume of the daily log of this legislative session in the Florida House, which ran from November 18, 1861 to December 17, 1861. At the opening of the session, the new governor, John Milton, sent a long message, mostly concerned with Secession and the Civil War. Compared to previous governors, Milton was loquacious and all of his communications with the legislature—in response to questions, accompanying notices that he signed particular bills, and in order to request new legislation—tend to be long and highly political.

333 pages. Confederate Imprint.

Edition + Condition: Contents generally very good (no separate wrappers, as issued), but lacking the 38-page appendix that accompanied the governor's message, typically found bound at the end of the Journal. Old wormholes scattered throughout. Finely bound in three-quarter's leather and marbled paper-covered boards. The spine has raised bands and is stamped in gilt. A truly lovely period-style binding.
