Notes: A very uncommon signed first edition of Lorde's prose meditation on breast cancer. The book remains in print as a Penguin classic; this first edition appeared in unadorned yellow wrappers printed with just the title and the author's name.

Edition + Condition: First edition (stated). A very good copy, with some tanning to the spine and small spots on the covers. There is a very tiny tear at the top edge of the title page. This copy is inscribed, "For Bridget—Survival and Power. With appreciation and best wishes—Audre Lorde."
