Notes: Illustrated with photographs of the typescript and period photographs of Ginsberg. This book, tracing the history of one of the great poems of the 20th century, was published on the 30th anniversary of the City Lights edition.

xiv, 194 pages. Edited by Barry Miles.

Edition + Condition: First edition (first printing of this edition, with a numberline ending in 1). A very good copy in a near fine dust jacket. Signed by Allen Ginsberg on the title page on 4/18/87, with his usual "AH in a circle. Your cataloguer is amused that Ginsberg got carried away writing his first name, which consists of an "A" and an "n" with three loops in between. In this instance, he made four loops (writing ALLLEN or perhaps ALLEEN). He then corrected it using a copy editor's delete mark, a clear sign of a writer in the habit of correcting his work.

There is some spotting to the top edge of the page block and the boards are a bit bowed.
