Notes: An exhibition monograph of Ross's color photographs taken in museums, often behind the scenes. Many of the photographs document taxidermied animals in storage.

Edition + Condition: First edition (first printing). Near fine in a near fine dust jacket. From the Harvard office library of the paleontologist and author Stephen Jay Gould. Gould, one of the most popular science writers of his day, was widely known for his essays that appeared in the magazine of the American Museum of Natural History, in New York. A number of the images in this book were taken there. With a tipped in bookplate denoting the provenance.

This copy has two original 8-1/2 by 11 inch color photographs laid in, both signed in the lower margin by Ross. One is of a bouquet of flowers; the second is an image of a crowded primate display in a museum.
