Juicio de residencia del escelentísimo señor Don Miguel Tacon,... ó sea Colección de varios escritos ... con un apéndice que contiene las respectivas sentencias

Notes: Miguel Tacón was a controversial governor of Cuba from 1834 to 1838. He initiated many public works, especially in Havana, but he also repressed dissent, encouraged the traffic in slaves, and was seen by many as a despot. At the end of his appointment, according to the Law of the Indies, he (like all senior officials), was subject to a "juicio de residencia" (a judgment of residence). This is a pro-Tacón report, apparently aimed at heading off any problems that might come out of the formal juicio. Several other pamphlets on the subject were also published in Spain.

An attractively printed book; the reason for its publication in the US is not clear. 199 pages.

Edition + Condition: Pages somewhat foxed, else a very good copy in the publisher's cloth binding.
