One of Crumb's Most Sought-after Prints

Harmonica Blues [2000]

Notes: This is the second and best of three versions of this print, based on R. Crumb's artwork for the album of the Yazoo record of the same name. The first version was an expertly done four-color silkscreen (serigraph). The third edition is an archival inkjet reproduction of this, the second version.

This version was prepared for publication by Jesse Crumb, Robert's late son. He fixed some errors and omissions on the original and adjusted some of the colors, all of which are detailed on the certificate of authenticity. From there, Jesse Crumb, working with Alexander Wood, separated the image into 32 different colors, preparing twenty-five screens (printing plates; some of which had more than one color). Each screen was printed separately, producing a spectacularly rich and bright image.

Image measures 21 inches square, printed on 26 by 26-1/2 inch Rives BFK 300 gram paper. The printing was completed in 1999; Crumb signed them the following year. The edition was 200 numbered copies plus 17 artist proofs and 3 printer proofs.

Edition + Condition: A fine serigraph; stored flat. Signed by Crumb on the right, with the date, April 2000. This is number 79 of 200. With the original certificate of authenticity signed by Jesse Crumb and Alexander Wood.

Publication: (N.-pl.): Wildwood Serigraphs, 1999.
