Edition + Condition: First or early edition. As best I can tell, the publisher kept 1935 (MCMXXXV) on the copyright pages of all copies. The books are found in a number of different bindings; this is medium-blue cloth, with the title and a bird design in orange. There are several variant dust jackets. This jacket has a note about the "washable cloth" binding on the front flap and the last ad on the back cover is for My Own Library. (There are also jackets with numerical codes on the front flap and copies with no text other than an excerpt from the author's foreword).
The washable binding plus the ad for My Own Library (first published in 1934) suggests this is an early copy.
This copy is also signed at an early date by Holling as H. C. Holling. The book is very good, with the cloth worn through at the bottom corners; in a very good dust jacket, missing some chips at the extremities. There are a few old tape repairs on the back (verso) of the jacket and some sunfading to the spine.
