Map of Property in the Ninth Ward of the City of New York Belonging to the Estate of William Thomas.

Notes: An attractive manuscript survey map with period handcoloring of a section of Greenwich Village between Greene and Mercer Streets just south of Waverly Place (here called Sixth Street).
William Thomas, the late owner of these 18 city lots, owned a large house surrounded by ample grounds. The house is depicted in red on the map and it occupied portions of six lots.
These lands were "Surveyed January 1829 by W. B. Doughty, City Surveyor. Copied Jan[uar]y 12 1830 by E. Smith."
Manuscript map in ink on paper, hand colored, paper watermarked "S & A BUTLER / U S". 16 by 20 inches.
Edition + Condition: Old linen backing. A bit toned and dust soiled with a few minor creases and tears along edges, some fraying to linen at edges. Two pencil manuscript annotations on the map; both old and modern ink annotations and stamps on the back.
