Inscribed by Stephen King on Halloween
The Monkey
Publication: (N.-pl.): Gallery Magazine, 1980. First Edition.
Notes: A short story currently in production as a feature film. This pamphlet was originally inserted with the November 1980 issue of the men's magazine Gallery (depending on the feelings of your significant other, it might be better that the magazine is no longer present).
[3]–34 pages (the preliminary pagination counts the front cover).
Edition + Condition: First separate edition of this story. A fine copy but for a bit of cracking at the spine fold and staples. The front cover is too short for the book, as is the case with all copies. Inscribed by the author, "For George and Jan—Happy Halloween—! Stephen King 10/31/80. Very scarce signed and particularly nice signed on Halloween.
Since there was a major theft of Stephen King books in Portland in August 2023, some provenance is probably in order. This copy came from Tom Garner, a late defense attorney in San Marcos, Texas. I acquired it in the early 2010s, from his estate.
