Macroevolutionary Dynamics: Species, Niches, and Adaptive Peaks

Notes: A summary of Eldredge's views on macroevolution. Eldredge and Stephen Jay Gould proposed a theory of punctuated equilibrium in 1972; this book builds upon those ideas.

226 pages.

Edition + Condition: First edition (first printing, with a numberline ending in 1). This is the hardcover issue in illustrated paper-covered boards (there was a simultaneous paperback as well). This copy is humorously inscribed to Stephen Jay Gould, "Steve—God, where will it ever end? Niles." This copy comes from Gould's Harvard office library and has a posthumous bookplate indicating the provenance. An exceptional association between two modern evolutionary theorists.

Publication: New York: McGraw-Hill, 1989.
